Born on a historic farm in the countryside of São Paulo — in Dourado — the Clara Group continues to invest in facilities and activities that connect guests to nature. Preserving native forest is one of our top priorities. In a region once dominated by sugarcane, we planted more than 50,000 rubber trees, forming an environmental protection belt. To encourage the return of native wildlife, fruit-bearing trees were added between them.
“We selected species that adapt well to the local soil and climate — and that animals love while humans don’t consume. The result has been amazing. After seven years, we’ve seen a remarkable increase in monkeys, toucans, and many other species”, says Taiza Krueder, CEO of Clara Resorts.
The planted forest is fully sustainable, and latex extraction is expected to begin in 2024. “By replacing sugarcane fields with rubber trees, we preserved the land’s productivity and helped restore the environment — improving the natural surroundings for wildlife that struggled to find food, since they do not feed on sugarcane,” Taiza explains.
Sustainable actions are part of the everyday life at our resorts.
All Clara Resorts operate with 100% renewable energy, including solar-heated water in both guest accommodations and pools. We also manage 100% of wastewater and water treatment through our own certified ETP (Effluent Treatment Plant) and WTP (Water Treatment Plant) systems. Water reuse for irrigation, organic gardens, and filtered water available in all accommodations — avoiding the disposal of more than 300,000 plastic bottles every year — are part of our commitment, along with strict waste separation and recycling practices.
Our sustainable practices have been recognized nationwide.
This year, Clara Ibiúna Resort was selected as the Best Hotel with a Sustainability Project by Hotéis de Luxo Brasil. The Group is also a winner of the Braztoa Sustainability Award 2019/2020 in the Hospitality category for the Clara Verde Project, which promotes sustainability among the local community, guests, and team members — establishing Clara Resorts as a true national reference in responsible and conscious hospitality.
