Inhotim Institute

Located in Brumadinho, Minas Gerais, Inhotim is the largest contemporary art museum in Latin America.

Originally envisioned in the 1980s by the Minas Gerais entrepreneur Bernardo de Mello Paz, what began on the iron-rich soil of a rural property became, in 2006, one of the world’s largest open-air museums.

Nestled between the rich biomes of the Atlantic Forest and the Cerrado, its 140 hectares of visitable area offer a unique experience where art and nature reveal themselves in harmony, transforming every step into a discovery.

Approximately 1,862 artworks by more than 280 artists from 43 countries make up the Inhotim collection. The pieces are displayed both outdoors and in galleries, surrounded by a Botanical Garden that features over 4,300 rare plant species from all continents.

Guests of Clara Arte enjoy exclusive access to the Inhotim Institute, with privileged morning itineraries already included in the daily rate.

Visits take place on Mondays and Tuesdays and are led in small groups by specialized guides, offering an immersive experience that blends art and nature.

Mondays: Galleries Psicoativa Tunga, Valeska Soares, Grada Kilomba and Lygia Pape; works by Olafur Eliasson and Dominique Gonzalez-Foerster; themed gardens and botanical highlights such as the Pau-brasil and the Jequitibá.

Tuesdays: Galleries by Adriana Varejão, Yayoi Kusama, Cildo Meireles, and others; works by John Ahearn, Rigoberto Torres, and Jarbas Lopes; as well as the Largo das Orquídeas and species such as the Bromélia Imperial.
